I have created and worked on a range of courses at the university. I also have a rather varied professional history, including a time in Europe, three other UK Universities and as a consultant for a range of blue chip financial organisations. Over time I have published a wide range of material including journal papers, EU directories, brochures and DVDs as well as conference papers and contributions to open source web sites.
My research interests are split across three areas:
- Web technology Focusing on security, reliability and large-scale applications. My experience includes Java, J2E etc but I have more recent worked with web services and a range of platforms and tools such as Eclipse, WTP and Axis2. I have also recently investigated component architectures for large-scale deployment of web applications with differing properties and sought to develop a single framework which can be adapted for any particular application's properties.
- E-learning I am interested in online delivery and aspects of information retrieval, navigation and summerisation.
- Language processing; focusing on parsing and semantic representations.
